Biographical Data:
This Tall Ship was built in 1976 for the Ocean Youth Trust. She was designed by Robert Clark, who originally meant her to be built of steel. Sponsor ships of the building of the boat came from Scott Bader, a company that worked with GRP Foam Sandwich. On the grounds that the fleet was built of their product, they would fund production. Christened as Scott Bader Commonwealth, she was given a projected life span of ten years – now in her twenty third year, it's somewhat outlived expectations.
In 1991, she was sold to the Faramir Sailing Trust. After an extensive refit in 1992, she has been continuing her sail training work and maintains a vigorous work load during the season which, most years, includes the Cutty Sark Tall Ships’ Races. Based on the north east coast, she is the flag ship of Hartlepool where massive development is being undertaken.
