Summerhill Hartlepool 100 acre Country Park.

Summerhill Hartlepool visitors centre came about by National Lottery funding and various other grants and was established in 1999.

Summerhill Hartlepool visitors centre, is situated on a 100 acre country park and local nature reserve. With interests in ornithological and archaeological.

Summerhill activities include 8 key sports:-

(1) Rambling with over a 100 acres of Summerhill to explore.

(2) Cycling both mountain biking and BMX with a BMX course.

(3) Horse Riding that caters for both novice and experienced.

(4) Exercise and fitness clubs.

(5) Cross country running courses and events.

(6) Orienteering courses.

(7) Archery for novice upwards with equipment hire.

(8) Rock climbing - largest of it's type in Europe.

DIRECTIONS

From the North
Turn off the A19 to Hartlepool on the A179. Turn right at the first roundabout (Hart roundabout). Follow this road for about 1 3/4 miles going across 2 roundabouts and turn right at the traffic lights onto Serpentine Road. Continue along this road for about 1mile until you see Summerhill Lane on your right (marked by 2 stone pillars). Turn right along Summerhill Lane - the Visitor Centre is at the end of this road over the roundabout.

From the South
Turn off the A19 onto the A689 into Hartlepool. At the third set of traffic lights turn left onto Truro Drive. Continue to the traffic lights at the T junction and turn right onto Catcote Road. Continue for approximately 1 1/2 miles and turn left onto Summerhill Lane. The Visitor Centre is at the end of this road over the roundabout.

In both cases look out for the brown tourist signs to Summerhill once you are off the A19.
